EXPERIENCE QHAKAZA FOUNDATION
ABOUT QHAKAZA FOUNDATION
The word Qhakaza means to bloom or to glitter in Zulu. This organization is aimed at raising young leaders, entrepreneurs and all round impactful young people.
We believe in the untapped power of youth. Formed in 2019 our Non-Profit Organization realized that the solution to the youth unemployment pandemic, Gender-Based Violence, high teen pregnancy rates and overall despondency of Youth in underprivileged communities in South Africa, lies within certain power skills which are not taught in the underprivilage at large. We aim to equip the youth with those practical power skills that will help them transform themselves and then their communities. .Qhakaza Foundation knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
The Qhakaza Way
Qhakaza Foundation is in the business of changing and shaping lives. The work we do at our Non-Profit Organization is aimed at providing a holistic approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. We make sure our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and communities.
IDENTITY
Knowing my position in the universe empowers me to reach my goals.
The core of our programme is identity. A healthy sense of identity also helps children be more open to people from other backgrounds because they are less likely to fear differences or put other children down to feel better about themselves. Having a sense of group identity as well as personal identity also helps a child feel a sense of belonging.

LEADERSHIP
How I use my strength to help myself and others
Providing leadership training prepares youth to manage time, work in a team setting, set goals, start conversations, facilitate meetings, and make effective presentations; all of which are positive life skills that they will carry into adulthood. Leading is more about learning specific skills than possessing inherent qualities. In this way, being a leader is like being an athlete. Certainly, some children are born with attributes that aid in athletics, such as size and quick reflexes. But success in athletics requires thousands of hours of practice to acquire the skills needed for success.

CREATIVITY
Thinking outside the box, using my imagination to solve problems
In order to be creative, one must be able to view things in new ways or from a different perspective. Among other things, new possibilities or new alternatives must be generated. Creativity is not limited to art, we can all create. Our goal is to promote creative thinking to young people so that they find solutions within their abilities instead of looking externally. We will also focus on the arts as research has shown the development advantages of practising the arts in your youth.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Every skill I have can be monetised and used to benefit myself and community financially
Teaching entrepreneurship benefits students from all socioeconomic backgrounds because it teaches kids to think outside the box and nurtures unconventional talents and skills. Furthermore, it creates opportunity, ensures social justice, instills confidence and stimulates the economy.
